Gail Voorhees Lipscomb
Gail has practiced law in West Virginia for over 23 years. Most of those years were spent as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney serving numerous counties in West Virginia. She has also worked as an Assistant Public Defender and in private practice where she practiced civil litigation, criminal law, family law, property and estate, and various other legal areas.
Mrs. Lipscomb is an accomplished trial attorney who has spent significant time in the courtroom, totaling over 20,000 court hearings and countless jury trials. Now as part of the West Virginia University team, Mrs. Lipscomb utilizes this courtroom expertise and seasoned experience to assist students in all aspects of law, both in and out of the courtroom.
Growing up outside Philadelphia in Reading Pennsylvania, Mrs. Lipscomb was an all-around athlete who received All-American Consideration for swimming, as well as being inducted into the Hall of Fame at her high school for athletics and academics. She earned a swimming scholarship at North Carolina State University where her Athletic Director was Coach Jimmy Valvano. There she was awarded the Atlantic Coast Conference Student Athlete Honors and Outstanding Students of America Award while graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in History and Education. She went on to law school at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law where she received her Juris Doctor degree in 1995.
